Veni Sancte (= Come, Holy Spirit)
is the traditional school year opening ceremony in Piarist schools, and
Te Deum (= We praise you, God)
is the school year closing ceremony when the director of the school hands out the awards to the students.
It’s an old tradition that in late November, Piarist schools celebrate St. Joseph Calasanz, the founder of the Piarist Order. On that day, instead of lessons we have a mass and after that, students can take part in competitons from different subjects and listen to concerts, plays or interviews (last year Szilágyi Áron olimpic champion visited us and some of the students interviewed him. Pictures about this occasion:
Easter, Christmas
Piarist schools do pay attention to Catholic education, they expest mass attendance from students, especially at Christmas and in Easter time. In Fridays of Lent, students don’t get meat in the school’s canteen and in the Piarist school’s church in Vác there’re Rorate masses every day in Advent, before school, masses every day of the Holy Week, and of course every Sunday. Before Christmas, classes have a class-Christmas where they give presents to each other, and there’s one Christmas celebration for the whole school where we listen to plays or concerts.
